4 of the Biggest Painting Mistakes You Could be Making

Painting will help make your house feel like a home. There’s so many tones, brushes, colours and surfaces of paints that could ruin your paint job. We’ve made a list of the 4 most common mistakes and how to avoid them!

Using the Wrong Tools

A lot of people use the wrong tool because they’re unsure on what tool is correct for the project they’re doing. Every roller and brush are different, they are meant for specific kinds of finishes and to be applied over specific surface like rough or smooth. The smoother the roller the smoother the surface is meant to be applied to and the smoother the finish.

Paintbrushes are difficult to sort, the stiffer the brush the cleaner the line will be.

Skipping Primer

There are now paint and primers in one, these are best for light duty applications that already has an existing layer of paint that is clean and not too glossy. You will need primer when you paint to increase the bond and to improve the surface finish.

Using the Wrong Paint

Paints are labelled for interior and exterior use, which means they are good to use in any environment; however others are labelled for only interior which means its only meant to be used indoors.

Surface Prep

Paint will only stick to a clean and lightly abraded surface. If the surface is dirty then you need to clean it with an all-purpose cleaner, one that is good at removing grease to get the best result.
