Want to enjoy your outdoor space in this nice weather but your deck is decayed? Here are some deck building tricks that you do when you build the deck, by doing these tricks.
Before you even start laying your decking, you need to plan the layout. Use a long hose or a cord to create a deck layout to help you visualise what a deck would look like in your garden.
Use perpendicular and diagonal blocking
By doing this blocking system you will avoid a wavy deck surface that could happen over time. You will need a narrow lumber to create perpendicular and diagonal blocking, so it doesn’t look odd. When you have installed this, you will need to use a string to run the top side of the joists and plane down the remaining high spots.
Flashing tape will help avoid deck rot
When building your deck run some flashing tape along the perimeter of the deck as it can help keep water from getting trapped between the joists of your deck.
When choosing the boards for the top of your deck use either a “capped” or “shelled” decking. This decking is similar to composite deking but uses a layer of dense, tough polymer that resists stains, scratches and fading.
Deck board spacers
Using board spacers, you will be able to lay it as even as possible. The board spacers can measure a consistent distance.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
