Buying Guide for Christmas Lights

To make your home even more festive for Christmas why not add some twinkly lights? Over the years they have become a seasonal staple, and we think the more Christmas lights the better! Christmas lights are the most versatile Christmas decoration as you can use them indoors or outside, as a standalone decoration or add them to your tree! Your Christmas lights can either be used to create a party mood or even create an entire Christmas scene. No matter what you are using your Christmas lights for, we have created a guide to help you perfect your Christmas decorations.

Before you buy…

Make sure you check the product carefully before you buy so you know what you’re buying and how you will use it. You might notice that the product will be recommended to use indoors or outdoors as some lights might be inside only because of their material.

String Lights

String lights, or fairy lights, are the classic Christmas lights as they are the most traditional choice for lighting up your Christmas tree! They have also started to become popular to use around the home for further decoration. String lights come in different shapes, colours and bulb effects!

Straight Line String Lights

This is the most original and popular choice as they are easy to use as you just drape or attach them to where ever you want. You can now get these to come with a battery-operated timer, this can be programmed to come on at the same time every day!

Net Christmas Lights

Net lights are a grid of LED bulbs, they come in a square or rectangle shape. For maximum impact they are used outdoors as they look most effective dropped over fences, hedges or trees.

Curtain Lights

These lights look like window curtains as they are designed with lines of strangle lights that hang loosely from a horizontal cable, we think they look great in windows or entrance ways.

These lights have become a family choice for fun, festive lighting. These lights create seasonal shapes and profiles and due to their simple form, they are easy to distinguish from a distance, so they are most used outside or in a window.

Outdoor Silhouettes

You can put these silhouettes outside in your garden or on your roof! You can either use a just one for a striking look or assembles loads together to make a detailed scene. You can get outdoor silhouettes in either 2D or 3D. We think 2D silhouettes look better against a flat background where as 3D silhouettes look better stood in a garden.

What you might need…

You might need hooks to hang up your lights, an extension lead and batteries!
