10 Must Have Gardening Tools


It’s hard to know how to get started when you’re new to gardening, even the most experienced gardeners need to have the correct tools. Here’s our list of the essential gardening tools that will make your garden look beautiful!

Hand Trowel –

This small tool is essential for planting, transplanting and potting. It is best to get one with a sturdy connection between the blade and handle and it also has to have a comfortable grip on the handle to avoid hand fatigue, it will also give you the most control.

Secateurs –

There are also known as pruning shears, pruners or clipped. You need secateurs is a very useful hand tool to have around the garden, you will need it for trimming and shaping plants and shrubs and removing dead growth. Hoe –

Gardening Gloves –

Spade –

No gardening tool is complete without a spade, they have a long handle and then a long and narrow flat head. You need a spade for digging tasks, as well as edging beds and lawns, transplanting, dividing shrubs, trenching and more.

Fork –

A garden fork is a multi-purpose piece of equipment as it can be used to aerate lawns, break up compacted soil, create holes for seeds, mix in soil treatment, remove weeds and soften tough ground. Its strong tines can penetrate difficult terrain compared to a spade.

Shovel –

A shovel is probably the tool you will use for most jobs around the garden, especially if it includes digging and the removal of loose gardening materials. A high quality shovel will be great value, whether your scooping away weeds or digging a hole.

Rake –

A rake will allow you to remove stones, rocks and other debris from the ground or before planting. You can also use it to level or smooth the surface of the soil or for getting rid of weeds and leaves. You might want to add a variety of rakes to your collection for different jobs, a lightweight fan-shaped rake is ideal for covering large areas whereas a duty bow rake is most suited to dealing with stony ground.

Saw –

You can use a saw to shape and prune trees and shrubs. A bow saw will allow you to do heavier cutting tasks.

Wheelbarrow –

You will be able to put everything in your wheelbarrow like gardening materials and your tools and then easily transport them around as you work.
